Good managers want to improve their performance. Many models of managed performance improvement have surfaced over the past decade, although most were not called "models," as such. But to the extent that these programs claim a causal relationship between normative management behaviors and desired enterprise performance, they constitute models that warrant rigorous evaluation.

Administrative Improvement Model

UC Irvine is engaged in a multi-year, multifaceted program of process improvement. The objectives of this program are to simplify administrative processes, decrease organizational complexity and layering, improve productivity, reduce reliance on paper, and tap employee ideas to "de-bureaucratize" essential administrative functions while eliminating tasks that contribute limited value.
